The Salians. Power in Transition
In the scope of the Salian Year 2011, the Historical Museum of the Palatinate in Speyer presents the large-scale exhibition “The Salians. Power in Transition” from April 10th until October 30th, 2011. The exhibition will focus on the world of the later Salians, the construction of the cathedral, the conflict with the papacy, as well as social transition at the turning point of the Middle Ages. For over a century, the Salians shaped the fortunes of the empire and changed the world view of that time. Hardly any other ruling family of the European Middle Ages was so closely tied to Speyer and the region of Southwest Germany as the dynasty of the four Salian emperors— from Conrad II, the powerful founder of the imperial dynasty, to Henry III, Henry IV and Henry V. Pfalz-bewegt.de exclusively presents the preparations for the major event.
