Hiking tip – Palatinate maar lakes

They are scattered over the entire Palatinate forest:  nearly 1000 maar lakes.  Artifically dammed centuries ago, today they lie as hidden secret tips somewhere deep in the forest, or are official swimming lakes, such as the Gelterswoog near Kaiserslautern-Hohenecken.
