Cabins in the Palatinate Forest
Hikers keep coming back to the Palatinate Forest. Not only because of its unique nature, but also because of its numerous Palatinate Forest cabins. 45 of these cabins offer hearty regional cuisine with stuffed pig stomach, liver dumplings, a platter of assorted homemade sausages and cold cuts at affordable prices. This is possible because they are operated by volunteers. The Palatinate Forest Association cabins are mainly open on the weekends, during the main season and partially also on additional days. Many cabins are located along the Haardt Rim, around Neustadt for example, there are the Hohe Loog, the Hellerhütte and the Weinbiethaus. They are, as almost all cabins, accessible only by foot. Hiking opportunities there can be found on the homepages for the cabins or in the Palatinate hiking portal.
